**"Kyoton" comes from six of the twelve letters of "Keynotathlon", chosen for their distinguishability. It is based on the derivation of Ash Ketchum's name from his Japanese name Satoshi. It also alludes to the city of Kyoto, considered the cultural capital of Japan, due to his interest in Japanese culture (especially video games and TV graphics).

**The "9" part is intended to be a disambiguator to avoid confusion with users who shared the "Kyoton" name. It was chosen since it was:
