Kyoton-9 (born June 13) is a popular Keynotathlon creator who joined YouTube on January 1, 2018. He is best known for creating the Keynotathlon series on YouTube, but has also created a few camps as well.
Series
Keynotathlon
The Keynotathlon series is the flagship series of Kyoton-9, consisting of color contestants competing in multiple events. It is based on Mariobrosaa Productions's Keynotathlon.
The series started at the beginning of 2018 with Colorsathlon, based on Mariobrosaa Productions's Keynoticosathlon. The first four episodes of the series were made in PowerPoint, with all subsequent episodes being made in Keynote. Colorsathlon finished within just two weeks, being followed by three more series: Colorsathlon 2, Bowserhexacontathlon and Bedtefpentacontathlon. However, there were very long gaps between these series due to other interests, and eventually all of these were cancelled.
The fifth series and second completed series was Bedtefhexacontathlon, which had technically 57 events and lasted from August 2022 to October 2024. The current series, Keynotenneacontathlon, is the largest Keynotathlon to ever be made, with 70 contestants competing in 90 events.
Camps
Battle for Rainbow Gem City
Battle for Rainbow Gem City was Kyoton-9's first successful camp, lasting from 23 September 2024 to 18 Janury 2025. It was not his first attempt at making one, however, as he had previously attempted at a Nintendo-themed camp in 2018. Contestants could sign up as either object show characters, Keynotathlon colors or Pokémon. The camp started off with 30 contestants, but the total number increased to 34 through debuting.
BFRGC was largely inspired by BFRP NEO, since both camps had a point-based system for eliminations and levelled items. Even though the initial attempt of a BFRP-styled camp initially started well on the surface, the camp had numerous errors mostly related to items that disrupted its flow. Eventually, a massive rant sent by Transparent Magenta (Viogenta) in Kyoton-9's DMs led to the camp's cancellation, as Transparent Magenta's elimination was part of the normal elimination system and not an error as she claimed.
Competitive Clash for Keynote Resort
Competitive Clash for Keynote Resort is Kyoton-9's current camp, co-created by Kyoton-9 and Ornect after BFRGC's cancellation. It started off with 40 (currently 41) contestants. The rules were similar to BFRGC, but a major difference was that contestants with Discord now use submission boxes instead of DMs to make organization much easier. As a result, errors have declined significantly in compared to BFRGC.
Mini-TWOWs
Twenty Syllables for Total Success
Twenty Syllables for Total Success (TSTS) was Kyoton-9's first mini-TWOW, lasting from 1 January to 8 March 2025. It was created in response to BFRGC's first cancellation, and was based on Realm of Fifty Characters, with responses being converted to points and contestants submitting responses. Only ten contestants competed in this camp, however. KlondlikeLXIII won the series with 370,763 points.
One Sentence of Redemption
One Sentence of Redemption was Kyoton-9's second mini-TWOW, created after TSTS was finished. It lasted from 9 March to 22 May 2025, and had 13 contestants. It was abruptly cancelled after OSOR 9B due to the Waluigigate voting scandal, which involved Wild Waluigi heavily manipulating the votes to eliminate KlondlikeLXIII starting from 5A.
JKLM
JKLM is the third iteration of Kyoton-9's mini-TWOW series, being made in collaboration with LuxuryLapras.
Former usernames
- Objectshowfan9001 - Initial username on 1 January 2018 that is still reflected in his e-mail.
- ObjectshowfanYT - Second username from 2 January 2018 to mid-2018.
- astroboy1101 - Third username, inspired by the Astro Boy anime seties and space size comparison videos.
- Bowsertendo666 - Fourth username from late 2018 to June 2020.
- SKMedia Projects - Fifth username, used from June 2020 to August 2020. After he got banned from Scratch on 29 May 2020, he returned to YouTube after a long hiatus and started uploading Scratch-themed content. However, he got banned on Miraheze on 2 August 2020 due to being under 13 at the time, forcing him to create a new alias.
- BTDFanatic07 - Sixth alias from August 2020, created on an entirely different email and YouTube account. This was named after the Bloons Tower Defense series
- BTDF07 TehRobloxian - Seventh alias from late 2020, shortened from the previous username.
- Tesgernami: Eighth alias from June 2021. He moved back to his original account. The "tesger" part comes from an initialism of "True Sun Gods Rock".
- VengefulTrueSunGod2543: Ninth alias used in 2022.
- VTSGsRock: Tenth alias and the longest used one, used from November 2022 to the end of 2024. It was renamed due to the alias also being used by someone else on a few websites (such as on Wikipedia and X/Twitter), as well as to avoid a similar pronunciation to "PTSD".
Trivia
- He has his own personal website at keynotathlon.neocities.org, although it is outdated due to the launch of the Keynotathlon Wiki.
- Kyoton could either be considered as the second or third Keynotathlon creator, since weee50's series more closely resemble object shows due to the plot and event conventions, making them difficult to classify as Keynotathlons.
- Kyoton has ten former usernames, meaning that he has gone through several identity crises. However, he also has a relatively long online history for his age, as he was only 9 years old when he created Colorsathlon at the beginning of 2018.
- As revealed in CCKR 4B, Kyoton prefers to spend a day with Mariobrosaa Productions over Cary Huang, due to his channel predominantly consisting of his Keynotathlon series, even though Keynotathlons were based on Cary's Algicosathlon series.
- He also states in CCKR 4B that he prefers trade schools and apprenticeships over four-year colleges, due to an uncertain job market for college graduates and greater academic pressure. This is part of a nationwide trend towards trade schools in the United States.
- Despite hosting object show camps, he has lost interest in the general object show community, due to the general community (outside of camps) being associated with toxicity, immaturity and vandalism on wikis.
- Since 2 May 2025, his school has used the GoGuardian filtering software to block non-educational videos on YouTube, causing all of his videos to be blocked as entertainment or gaming, along with other Algicosathlons and Keynotathlons. Kyoton has criticized this measure as an insane form of internet censorship in schools, due to the lack of political or sensitive elements in the content.[1]
- His current name, Kyoton-9, was carefully crafted based on multiple meanings:
- "Kyoton" comes from six of the twelve letters of "Keynotathlon", chosen for their distinguishability. It is based on the derivation of Ash Ketchum's name from his Japanese name Satoshi. It also alludes to the city of Kyoto, considered the cultural capital of Japan, due to his interest in Japanese culture (especially video games and TV graphics).
- The "9" part is intended to be a disambiguator to avoid confusion with users who shared the "Kyoton" name. It was chosen since it was:
- the age when Kyoton created Colorsathlon in 2018
- the number of Keynotathlons that precede Colorsathlon, if weee50's series count as such
- Cirno's number, referencing Nazrininator (the creator of the Battle for Magic series), who inspired many of the challenges in Mariobrosaa Productions's Battle for Regal Kingdom
